Jujutsu Incremental Domain Expansion Guide

The ultimate technique slot — activation cost, timing windows, and why you should not press it in every fight.

Domain Expansion

Domain Expansion in Jujutsu Incremental is a high-cost ultimate ability that creates a localized zone where your Technique输出 is massively amplified. It is not a passive. It is a window you open at a specific moment in raid bosses or difficult quests and close before the boss retaliates. If you are treating it as a “press when ready” button, you are using it wrong.

This page assumes you have locked a Technique on the tier list and understand the basic train, fight, quest, roll, raid loop from how to play. If you do not know your Technique name, you do not know your Domain Expansion trigger condition.

What Domain Expansion actually does

The official description for Jujutsu Incremental advertises “unlock cursed abilities.” Domain Expansion is the cursed ability that unlocks at the top of the Technique tree, not the first row. It is gated behind:

  • A locked S or high-A Technique.
  • A minimum cursed energy threshold (your training bar must be above a certain percentage to cast).
  • The correct input sequence in the current game client.

Inside the Domain Expansion zone:

  • Your Technique damage or effect output is amplified for a set duration.
  • Enemies inside the zone receive a debuff or take increased damage from your kit.
  • The zone has a limited duration and a cooldown after it ends.

Outside the zone, the kit performs at baseline. If you open the Domain and then step out of the circle, you lose the buff immediately.

When to activate it

The correct windows for Domain Expansion:

Raid bosses — phase transitions. When a boss enters phase 2 or 3 and the room fills with AoE telegraphs, that is the Domain window. The carry opens the zone, the party cleans up adds, and the breaker holds the boss in the zone while the carry presses the amplified Technique. Close the Domain before the phase 3 enrage timer expires.

Quest boss finales. Some quests end with a single named enemy that has a health gate. Open the Domain for that gate, not for the trash pulls before it. Wasting the Domain on the entry room is how players walk into the finale without their ultimate.

Training dummy tests. Before you take Domain Expansion into a real raid, test the duration and the input on a dummy. If the input does not register cleanly in a zero-pressure environment, it will not register in a four-player room.

The wrong times to activate:

  • Open world farming. The zone duration is limited and the cooldown is long. If you are in a training node, you are wasting the window.
  • First pull of a raid. Save it for the phase that actually threatens a wipe.
  • Solo content where the enemy HP is low enough that baseline Technique output would finish the fight.

How to activate

The activation sequence in Candescent Games’ Jujutsu Incremental (place 100952587881256) is:

  1. Confirm your cursed energy bar is above the activation threshold.
  2. Open the Technique menu or press the bound input (default on PC, check controls for console).
  3. Select Domain Expansion or press the assigned hotkey.
  4. Position your character so the zone covers the target area.
  5. Press confirm to cast.

The zone appears as a visual circle or domain barrier in the game world. If you do not see a visual confirmation, the cast did not go through — check your energy threshold and try again.

Domain Expansion and party composition

A four-player raid with Domain Expansion roles:

  • Carrier — the sorcerer or spirit with the amplified Technique. Opens the Domain at the correct phase transition.
  • Breaker — applies pressure or status effects before the Domain opens so the carry can press into clean uptime.
  • Anchor — sustain Clan holder. Keeps the carrier alive through the channel animation, which can be interruptible on some boss patterns.
  • Flex — handles adds that spawn inside the Domain zone. If adds are in the zone, they are taking amplified damage from the carrier.

If the carrier is a cursed spirit, the spirit’s disaster-pressure kit typically amplifies inside the Domain. Pair it with a pact Clan from the clans tier list so the spirit does not burn out during the channel.

After UPD 2

The August 2026 patch (UPD 2) is the current live title. If Domain Expansion activation thresholds, zone duration, or cooldown changed, the updates hub will note it. Test the window on a dummy after any title-prefix change before you assume the timing is the same.

What we will not invent

We will not list a Domain Expansion tier list separate from the techniques tier list. The Domain is a Technique amplifier, not a separate slot. If a YouTube video shows a Domain with a different visual than your client, you are in the wrong place ID.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock Domain Expansion?

Lock an S or high-A Technique, then train until your cursed energy bar crosses the activation threshold. The exact threshold is in-game. Read techniques and how to play.

When is the best time to use Domain Expansion in a raid?

At boss phase transitions, specifically when the room fills with AoE telegraphs. Open the zone, let the breaker hold the boss inside it, then close before phase 3 enrage. See raid bosses.

Can I use Domain Expansion in solo quest content?

Yes, but only for the boss finale or a single high-HP target. The zone duration and long cooldown make it wasteful for open-world or trash pulls. See quests.

Did UPD 2 change Domain Expansion timing?

Test on a dummy after you read UPD 2. Candescent Studios can retune activation thresholds in a patch. Do not assume the window is the same as pre-UPD 2.
